Another day another issue for Invoice Ninja…
I try to update from 5.10.26 → 5.10.29 and get the usually helpful error “Something went wrong” and nothing in the logs.
I thought maybe it was hte migration that went badly but this also happens with the installation where the migration went perfectly.

Hi,
Have you checked the web server error logs as well as storage/logs?
I tried again just to make sure if there were errors they would be entered into the logs and nothing in either the app logs or server logs.

Not sure, without error logs it’s hard to help
Did you update manually or via the update button in the app or web UI?
I updated multiple instances on Friday and it took about 60 seconds each, without problem.
How did you do this please as I used the button and it just gave the error something went wrong and no logs.
On one instance I updated via the ‘Force update’ button. The other 2 instances I updated manually.

That all depends on how it was installed. If you used Docker, I cannot help there. Docker and I do not get on well.
If it is installed on a VM or bare metal, I created this to help others. If it was installed via git, those instructions are on the InvoiceNinja documentation page.
If it is installed via Softaculous or some other GUI method of installation, I cannot help you.
I installed from the extracted ZIP file provided for self hosting. I have root access if that helps?
Then you can use the instructions that I linked in the previous post.
