I just created an invoice and went to email to client but the area to edit the default email message is blanked out and I cannot edit.
Having the same issue. no input/edit box for initial email. Can edit others, but all HTML tags are gone. Looks like it is adding basic html tags on the server side now.

In the latest release this past weekend we added a visual style editor to the email templates, the problem could be related to this change.
It may help to ensure the HTML code in the settings on Settings > Templates & Reminders starts with <p>, this will instruct the app to convert the HTML to markdown.
Alternatively, you can disable the visual editor on Settings > Account Management.
