Self/Hosted Install Fails

I have followed the install guide for self-hosted located here

however, after getting to the end for the 5th time

doesn’t work and only get
Welcome to nginx!

If you see this page, the nginx web server is successfully installed and working. Further configuration is required.

note have ran
$ sudo rm /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/default

update: I have tried a 6th time
and everything goes well until i try to access it via the browser
no errors in logs or command-line
However, still get the same result default nginx index page .

what am i missing?
