"pay now" process may have a bug

I tried a test by sending an invoice to myself. When I went to the “pay now” button and used the dwolla gateway to make the payment, there is a link at the bottom saying “cancel and return to [name of business]”. I clicked on it and even though I never made a payment, Invoice Ninja says that a payment was successfully applied and the invoice balance was reduced to zero! This happened even though no payment was made and I simply clicked on the “cancel and return” link. Is there a fix?
