When I open a client record to view invoices and then open an invoice a save dialogue pops up asking to save the downloaded invoice even though I did not click any option to save.
Any ideas what might be causing this?

The problem is likely related to the PDF settings in the browser.
I can confirm this. I primarily use Firefox and it’s due to how PDFs are rendered. Firefox downloads the document first, before displaying it. If you do not have it set to automatically download to a specific directory, Firefox will present the pop-up asking where to download it. Chromium based browsers (Google Chrome, brave, Edge, etc) render a PDF via cache, therefore saving a PDF in those browsers is another step.
That sounds like a Firefox engineers problem
