Improve Email Delivery - especially to Gmail addresses

I am running a self-hosted instance of Invoice Ninja and have been trying to resolve email deliverability issues where major providers (Gmail, Microsoft, Bigpond) silently drop my invoice emails.

Routing invoices through a Transactional email service seems to have fixed the ‘click-tracking’ the big email providers don’t seem to like.

However, the transactional email provider is showing there’s little room for improving the email delivery. There is an external asset on every email. It injects an Adobe Typekit stylesheet link (https://typekit.net). Because Gmail treats unaligned, third-party asset links as suspicious, it can hurt email deliverability.

Is there a way within the settings to strip this hardcoded Typekit wrapper out entirely so the HTML emails only utilize native system fonts?

Hi,

I’m not sure, I suggest asking in discussion on GitHub.

No, sorry I won’t. What’s the purpose of this forum then?

Ok, your choice…

The purpose of the support forum is to provide help with existing features. We use GitHub to track feature/change requests (such as this) as well as bugs.

Note: you can use the custom email option to customize the email but I don’t think it’s the right solution here.

@Peter_C For what its worth, I’ve been running Invoice Ninja self hosted for years, and the emails it sends I have routing through a similar transactional email service (specifically Mailgun), I’ve never had an issue with an email not being received by contacts with the major providers. I suspect while its best practice it has very negligible impact as it is not uncommon for assets in emails to be loaded from a different domain/subdomain to where the email originates from.

Google themselves even do this with their own emails. Invoices for some of their services come from an @google.com domain but they load assets from gstatic.com, fonts.googleapis.com, various sub domains and others.

You can check the source and see that typekit is included in resources/view/email/template/admin.blade.php Line 17.

You can comment that line out and/or include inline styles there as you please!

@terbe thanks. The invoices are all being delivered successfully after I’ve used a transactional email service. It was more of a recommendation to have the Typekit stylesheet link removed or as suggested below from journeyer to #comment it out.

@journeyer I’ll give that a try. Thanks for the suggestion.
