Import CSV Time

I am testing the hosted version of v5 for a customer and wonder how long it takes to import a .CSV file. We have a free account for now but the clients and products haven’t been imported yet after a couple of hours. How long shall I wait before assuming that the process didn’t work?

I can’t seem to find it but how can I change invoice item quantities from showing a decimal point by default?

Thanks

Hi,

Unless the file is very large the import should complete within a few minutes.

Do you means the application interface or on the PDF? It isn’t possible in the app but may be possible on the PDF using a template.

The import doesn’t seem to work from a .CSV file for either Products or Clients. The Products file isn’t very big but the Clients file is pretty large (22K+ customers). Neither worked though. I’m planning on getting them an enterprise plan for 3-5 users but would like some real data in there for practice on the free plan.

The quantity with a decimal point is just on the interface. Not a big deal so ignore that question.

Thanks

The free plan is limited to 100 clients, it would explain why a large import isn’t working.

For the product import I suggest checking that each product has a unique product key value.

I deleted some columns from the .CSV file and the products imported correctly.

I trimmed the customer list to 90 but it is still not importing. I must be missing a required column but it doesn’t show any errors for me to fix.

Thanks for your help.

I don’t believe any columns are required when importing clients.

Do you have any deleted clients in your account? They count towards the 100 limit unless they’re purged.

There were four so 94 total if the import worked. I did purge the four and lowered my .CSV to 40 with no luck. Must be a required field that I’m missing.

@david can you please advise?

@Ryan_G

Are you receiving an email at all? If the import fails you should still receive an email with a line by line explanation of the failures.

If you haven’t, send us an email [email protected] including the file and we can take a look for you.

Sorry, the messages were going to a junk folder which I fixed. It shows the following error but I don’t know why since it is 90 records. I’ll email the file.

The following records failed to import, they either already exist or are missing required fields.
Error:
Type Data Error
client “client” “Error, you are attempting to import more clients than your plan allows”

@Ryan_G this explains the issue.

On the free plan you can only have 20 clients, you would need to upgrade for the file to import more customers

It worked when I cut the import down to 19.

It is a test but would enterprise work with 20K+ clients?

Hi there,

We do not have a cap on clients with the paid plan

It may be a limitation on the free account but applying a payment doesn’t show the invoice that it is being attached to. The missing 0 on 116.1 is weird too.

It took a little bit of time but the Invoice shows now. Thanks for your time.
