How to receive e-invoices

Hello,

I just came across the great regulation and the requirement for e-invoices in the EU from January 2025. And I was very pleased to see that InvoiceNinja already has a function for sending these electronic invoices.

I tried it out and it worked straight away. Very neat work. Many thanks for that!

But now I’m wondering how I should receive electronic invoices that are sent to me in such an electronic format by other companies? Is there a solution for this in Ninja? So far I have always entered my expenses (incoming invoices) manually. Will there be a way to import e-invoices directly into Ninja? Ideally through an email inbox that is connected via IMAP or POP3, for example?

If something like this is not available or planned: Can anyone give me tips on other software that can receive such invoices and display them legibly without me getting caught in the license swamp of commercial software?

Thanks for your link. I can´t find any “issue” regarding this.
If it´s not supported by InvoiceNinja its a kind of “feature request” instead an issue.
It´s a logical need in Invoiceninja for the upcoming eu wide need of e-invocies from 2025: Send & receive electronic invoices

From 01.01.2025, every B2B invoice in Europe must also be created and sent elect…ronically. Fortunately, the dispatch has already been implemented very successfully and professionally in InvoiceNinja. Many thanks for that. As a logical consequence, the only thing missing now is the counterpart: the receipt and processing of electronically received invoices in InvoiceNinja. The best place for this would be in the "Expenses" module. The first step here could be to establish the option of uploading a received e-invoice as a file so that an expense is created for it. Ideally, however, all information about the invoice would also be displayed in the expenses module. In principle, it is the same format as the outgoing invoices, except that you don't have to be able to edit the incoming invoices. As a second step that would make everything very convenient, it would be great to be able to connect InvoiceNinja via POP3 or IMAP to an e-mail account that is automatically monitored and processes incoming e-mails there, so that e-invoices are recognized and automatically imported from the attachments of the e-mails. Newly received invoices could then be marked as "new" in a list (expenses). I think such a feature would make all users in Europe very happy. best regards, Kai
