How to Export A PDF Preview

I’m having a strange issue where the preview that shows under Settings > Invoice Design is not exactly the same as the preview which shows under Settings > Invoice Design > Customize. Some of the custom fields have slightly different labels, but I’m not sure why. The issue is that I’m not sure which of these previews will reflect what an actual invoice will look like.

I’d like to create an export of what an actual invoice would look like so that I know which preview I can trust, or perhaps to reference instead of a preview if neither preview is accurate.

Is there a way for me to create and export an invoice PDF which will accurately reflect what a real invoice will look like, without actually creating an invoice?

Hi,

Are you using the web or desktop app?

You would need to create an invoice to export an invoice PDF, if you haven’t made any invoices it may explain why you see a difference.

@hillel Yes, I’ve tried using both. The issue I’m describing with the preview discrepancies happens on both equally. I guess I’ll try creating a test invoice then. I just thought there must be a way to capture the preview PDF and export it.

Okay, so after creating a test invoice, it appears that the preview under Settings > Invoice Design > Customize gives me an accurate preview of the invoice, but the preview under Settings > Invoice Design is different in several aspects and doesn’t use my test invoice, but instead uses a completely made-up invoice with fake data. Not sure why that’s the case.

Are you using the web app or the desktop app?

@hillel Again, the behavior I’m describing occurs on both.

@david do you have any thoughts?
