Force custom product fields to default as blank

I’m playing around with using custom product fields specifically single line text. I’ve noticed that if I add a product to an invoice, add text into that custom field, and save the invoice that text becomes the “default” text for that custom field on the product itself. The next time I create an invoice and add that product it pre-fills in the last text used into that custom field. Is there any way to have the custom field remain null on the product itself so that every time it is added to an invoice it defaults to blank?

You can disable the auto-update option on Settings > Product Settings.
