It may help to increase the PHP script memory limit.
Otherwise, you can copy over the latest release ZIP.
I have increased PHP memory limit from 128 to 512MB and it solved the problem.
However when tried to update from Windows app it says it was updated, but it was not. Trying again using a browser it worked.

The desktop/mobile app need to be updated through their respective stores.
We release a new backend/web app about once a week and new mobile/desktop apps about once a month.
