When I select a tax rate for a line item, the pdf refreshes however does not update with the tax. Once I hit save the tax that was selected for the line item disappears. This is happening across all clients now.
I also had a weird issue where tax was not calculating correcting on the newest client added while older invoices were fine. Not sure if this is related. I just upgraded to v5 hosted.

I am using the desktop app and had the same issue on the web version.
Can you please check that line item taxes are enabled on Settings > Tax Settings and taxes are included on Settings > Invoice Design > Product Columns.
Also, have you had a chance to try both web versions?

Product Columns has Tax listed as a field
Fixed: You may want to disable calculate taxes in Settings > Tax Settings if you wish to manually apply taxes.
Also I realized the other issue with tax being miscalculated was due to a dollar amount discount.
